What is the meaning of mentorship? Merriam~Webster’s dictionary describes it as; Influence, guidance, direction given by a mentor.
In part it reminds me of discipleship, we are disciples of Jesus meaning we follow Him, learn of Him and are doing what He taught. Jesus mentored His disciples and He still does today, we are to pass that along when we become mature. Hopefully teaching others the same.
It also reminds me of what the Holy Spirit does in our lives when we become born again in Christ. John 16:13 says that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and will guide you into all truth with the Authority of God.
As you grow in Christ and in your knowledge of Him. Naturally you will have questions along the way. Especially coming out of Mormonism you will find that Jesus of the bible is quite different than who you may have thought. Some doctrines you may struggle with for awhile but remember that your understanding of the bible will become more clear as you study it through prayer, with the Holy Spirit and sticking with the bible to understand the bible. Be careful of outside sources to interpret for you. The bible builds upon itself. You will see. Being a disciple of Jesus is glorious and exciting. To study with other Christians will be a blessed benefit to you.
Who is Jesus of the bible?
Colossians 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all
creation. 16) By Him all things were created that are in heaven and earth, visible and invisible. Whether thrones or dominions, principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
Col 2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the godhead bodily.
Here we are touching on the doctrine of the Deity of Christ. Even the Holy Trinity can be seen. One God in three. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Each separate but One God! This takes the Holy Spirit to understand. Remember He is the Spirit of Truth and will guide you into all truth.
